1.) Thankful that my leg is 90%. I have yet to fully recover.

2.) Thankful for the Deer Park United Methodist Church's Pumpkin Patch. My son and I created this!

3.) Thankful that October is over. It was the busiest month so far this year for us.

4.) Thankful that some trick or treaters just came by so I could get rid of the rest of this candy!

5.) Thankful that we banded together and picked up the whole house today. We rocked it. You know what's funny? Our new bathroom is the only room in the house that stays clean now! lol

HERRICANE SILLY

Herricane Silly has landed once again here in Texas. Today there was loud thundering sounds coming from the storage cabinet. There must have been some really high winds too. When I approached the scene I found the destruction that Hurricane Silly had done. Her gust of wind was strong enough to blow all of my bubbled mailers out of the storage cabinet and on to the floor. She isn't sleeping on the pile only resting. Don't let her fool you! The clean up will be manageable this time. Next time who know! Stay tuned for the next episode of Herricane Silly.

Aloha Friday #237 - What Would You Do?

Kailani at An Island Life has created this really fun idea. If you are interested in joining in, please visit her site for more details.

The other day I had a bill collector call our home looking for our eldest daughter. They wanted to know if there was a number she could be reached, this got me to thinking...

Would you give the bill collector a valid number for your kid?

Wordless Wednesday - Where Are You?

On this particular night he was supposed to clean his room up or get in the top bunk of his bed and go to sleep. He was waiting for his Dad to come home from a Scout meeting. When my husband came home I asked him to check on our little guy. My husband couldn't find him. We frantically started searching the house inside and outside. For some reason I opened the door to the hall closet and found him passed out! Little stinker.

#Mamavation Monday - Injuries Stink!

Mamavation

Official Challenges:
Movement Challenge--Get 100 minutes of sweaty cardio per week. Keep us updated in Mamavation Monday post by using form.

The Mama Guns Challenge-Strength Training--getting strength training 3-4 days per week for 30-45 minutes. Using #mamaguns hashtag to talk about it on twitter. This is week 7 of the challenge and have been out for 3 weeks. I'm still hoping to get back to it this coming week.

My Work Outs -R.I.C.E. for me all week long.

Scale Reading -
Hello 1 pound! Seriously bad food choices the last 2 days.

Measurements -
Chest = same
Waist  = +1.5"
Hips = +1"
Legs = -.5
Arms =same

Stress Level -
Week 4 on the injured list and still having swelling in my leg. I'm walking but any activity for any period of time, even standing causes my leg to swell. It's an obnoxious injury. Everyone keeps asking me about upper body. I'm going to give that a go this week. I'm going insane here. If you followed my training through out the spartan race then you know I was at a very high level of working out. Now, I'm pretty much down to sitting on an exercise ball with my leg elevated and on ice. I'm truly losing my mind. I miss my friends. I miss the stress release. I'm not myself. I did NOT listen to my body. In fact I ignored it and I've been paying for it for weeks. Right now I'm trying to listen. I know the difference between discomfort and over doing it. All I can do is keep going for treatments and do what I can at home. At the same time, it all boils down to nutrition. I suck at eating! Period. I make good and bad choices all in the same day.

The UP side -
I really want to take this time and focus on nutrition while I'm still healing. I have to figure out what works for me. Eating clean? I'm reading more articles about it. I'm going to try to start the 100/200/200 back up starting today! I have to figure out what I can do. BIG congratulations to April of @GAFlygirl for being the Sista of the Week!

BLOGGING CARNIVAL: This week’s blogging carnival is sponsored by SUBWAY. SUBWAY is giving away a $50 gift card to Lulu Lemon, a green Gaiam gym bag and yoga mat.  Join in the Commit to Fit Campaign and Jared.
I'm looking forward to reading how the rest of my "sistas" did this week.
And this is a little inspiration for all of us this week!

I'm always hunting workout music which you will find in my DJ Booth at Blip.fm. You can search the #mamavation hashtag or #workouttunes to see my lists. If you have any music suggestions leave them in the comment section!

Personal Goals for 2011

Yesterday we got this fill in the blank sheet from church to begin thinking about our personal goals for 2011. For me it's hard to wrap my brain around the fact that this year is nearly at an end and that it's time to start over. Now I'm curious to see what my 2010 goals were and if I accomplished any of them. I'm going to list the questions here so you too can get your thinking cap on.

1. I will thank God daily for all my blessings. My goal for daily Bible reading and prayer is __days each week.
2. I will seek contentment and simplicity and live within my means. My spending goal is___.
3. I will seek freedom from the bonds of credit and debt. My debt reduction goal is___.
4. I will seek to wisely manage the gifts God has given me, investing and saving for the future. My saving goal is ___.
5. I will worship God each week by the giving of my tithes and offerings. My estimate of giving for 2011 is __.

In the past I've never really blended my faith and finances together. Interesting how they go hand in hand.

Family Fun at The Fall Festival

Popcorn, snow cones and a train! We had some happy campers today. The kids had such a great time at our church's Fall Festival. I wish we would have gotten there earlier today but we had a long list of things to attend today. We could not get Silly off of the train. She cried when they packed it up to leave. We finally distracted her with pumpkin patch duty!
 My son is trying to be a chicken. I'm not really sure why!?
 Trying to get all three of them to pose for a photo is nearly impossible.
 He was having fun traveling from spot to spot for a photo opportunity.
 Yep, she has a mouth full of pizza! We had it delivered to the pumpkin patch. Since we got there so late in the day they were already sold out of food. There was a great turn out from the community for this event.
 They look so sweet and so grown up! Tomorrow they are showing The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown as the movie in the pumpkin patch. The kids are so excited! This has to be one of our favorite times of the year.

Good-bye 2 pounds! Muscle loss? I don't know. Water loss? maybe. Better food choices? It's possible.

Measurements -
Chest = -.5"
Waist  = -2"
Hips = -.5"
Legs = +.5
Arms = +.5"

Stress Level -
Sick of being on the injured list. I'm suffering from headaches daily. What is going on with that? This morning I took a step without pain for the first time in 2 weeks. Then I put my new shoes on with my new supports. The pain was back full force. I had to return the stability insoles. My body can't handle any new adjustments until I heal completely. ARG!!!!!!

The UP side -
I'm healing. I'm hoping to get back to some form of exercise this week. It's all in the shoes! I'm going to try to start the 100/200/200 back up slowly. I want to make sure I go in the gym 100%. I'm not going back until I'm completely healed.

Sports Authority - The Alternative to The Boot!

Today we discussed the idea of the boot. Just when I was about to cry "Uncle" and go get one my Dr. said "too late!" While hobbling around my home I've been walking with my right foot at an angle. This is all very bad because I'm messing up the ligaments on the other side of my leg. Therefore, putting a boot on at this point will only cause me to continue walking like that furthering my healing time. Instead she said go to Sports Authority and get some good NON running shoes! Off I went and here you can see this really cool gadget they have.
All I do is stand on it and it leaves an imprint telling them my foot needs.
As you can see I have a very flat imprint which means I don't have an arch. This has always been an issue for me. The young lady hooked me up with some supports for every day needs as well as my athletic needs.

Now I have a pair of ASICS cross training shoes and a really nice pair of Nike basketball shoes. I love the ankle support I get from them. I felt so much better just putting them on. My feet have grown so much since having children. That is so weird! Am I the only one? lol - I picked up that little four pronged hand held massager at Bed Bath & Beyond. All these products are making me feel a lot better.

Now, I'm going to be a long time customer of Sports Authority because their sales people actually know something about shoes! I normally go to Academy but their people just stock shelves they don't know much else about shoes.

It Started with Tim Conway

I'm sort of in this pickle. It's me versus the need to wear this silly boot to keep my leg stabilized so it can heal properly while still trying to function. I would like to just stay off of it and forget the silly boot and keep R.I.C.E. My Dr. told me that I needed to stop trying to walk the way I was and to take smaller steps so I could walk properly. The image brought me back to memories of Tim Conway. This is the perfect skit to illustrate what I look like trying to get around right now. lol - Oh it just cracks me up!

I'm in slow motion right now. I know there is a good reason for this and I'm really trying to find the silver lining but it's hard. I miss my friends, working out, losing pounds, being able to function, walk without pain, the sun, the track and all the progress I was making.

I'm limited to three places in my house: upstairs in front of the tv with my leg propped up (bored with tv), on the couch downstairs with my leg propped up (kid magnet) and on my exercise balls in front of my computer with my leg propped up. I've been on the computer most of the day getting sucked into updated my resume and information on LinkedIn. I'm guessing this is progress of some sort. I'm just trying to remain open to possibilities of what is to come.

#Mamavation Monday

Mamavation
It's going to be tough finding the positive in this week. That scale didn't move this week. It's almost like I got a free pass or something. I'm injured, didn't work out one bit and ate out at least once a day all week long. I can't believe I didn't gain like 10 pounds or at least 5. I will say that I kept bringing half of what I ordered home. I think portion control helped a lot. My son finally got my measuring tape out that he hid some where and then all those numbers came spiraling back!!!!!!!!!

BIG congratulations to Amanda of @beeacutie2 for being the Sista of the Week! This week’s blogging carnival is sponsored by SUBWAY. SUBWAY is giving away a green iPod Shuffle and a $10 iTunes gift card to one lucky winner.

Weekly Mamavation Goals -

1.  #fruitnveggie challenge. Get 7-8 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. - I only get this each week in a smoothie. I have to incorporate the vegetables.
2. Water challenge. Strive to drink more water. Some moms are striving to drink half their body weight in water. For instance if you weigh 180, strive to drink 90 ounces of water per day. - I don't do this daily it's something I have to get back too!

My Goals - Turning out to be a lot harder than I thought.
  • The long term goal 50lbs. by the end of the year.
  • The short term goal 4 lbs. per month.
    • January - 4 pounds lost = goal met. 191-4=187
    • February - 5 pounds lost = goal met. 187-5=182
    • March - +1 gain = goal NOT met. 182+1=183
    • April - 2 pounds lost = goal NOT met. 183-2=181
    • May - 3 pounds lost = goal NOT met. 181-3=178
    • June - 0 gain/loss = goal NOT met. 178
    • July  - +1 gain = goal NOT met. 178+1=179
    • August - 2 pounds lost = goal NOT met. 179-2=177
    • September- +1 gain = goal NOT met. 177+1=178
My Work Outs -R.I.C.E. for me all week long.

Measurements -
Chest = -.5"
Waist  = +1.5"
Hips = +1"
Legs = -.5
Arms =same

Scale Reading -
178 again for the 3rd week in a row. Seems impossible but I checked it with my hand weights. It makes sense though since it showed up in other places!

Stress Level -
I'm on solo kid duty again. I don't find that stressful any more by itself. The injury has really sent me on a tail spin of guilt and inconvenience paired with a lot of pain. I can't stand being injured. I miss the gym, my friends, my me time, my clothes having more room and feeling like I've accomplished something.

The UP side -
I'm healing. It's slow but I'm home for another week. I'm going to try to start the 100/200/200 back up slowly. I want to make sure I go in the gym 100%. I'm not going back until I'm completely healed.
