Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 9 of the New Year




I lost one pound this week. I'm going to take it considering the lack of progress from the stomach virus. This weeks work out schedule was wiped out! I did make it to boot camp yesterday. My shoulder was creaking again. I actually work out with several physical therapists and they gave me some tips! I'm super happy about that.

Ah the measuring tape!
Arms - 1/2" gain
Chest - same
Waist - 1/2" off
Hips - 1" off
Thighs - 1/2" off

Really???? I'm really surprised by these results but I'll take it. I'm going to now combine the Tip The Scale Tuesday & Mamavation Monday posts. Angie got me started but Mamavation is keeping me going. Next Monday you will actually see some numbers.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 8 of the New Year




I lost three pounds this week. What the heck? It must be the eating 5 times a day. That is the only thing that I can think of that has changed. Here is my work out schedule this past week.  I did get a couple of my extra walks in. I'm worried about next week. My children have been passing a stomach bug around the house. I haven't gone to work out since last Friday. There haven't been any extra walks since then either. I'm feeling awful! I think it's my turn to get the stomach bug. I feel so bad.

Monday - 1 hour boot camp
Tuesday - 1 hour circuit training - 15 minutes abs, 15 minutes of Spin
Wednesday - 1 hour boot camp, 1 hour Zumba
Thursday - 1 hour circuit training - 30 minutes of Spin
Friday - 1 hour boot camp
Saturday - off
Sunday - off

Ah the measuring tape!

Thighs - 1/2" gain

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 7 of the New Year




One more pound down this week. I feel like the freakin' tortoise here! Here is my work out schedule this past week.  I did not get my extra walks in again. I'm going to try to kick it up a notch this coming week or find some way to get those extra walks in.

Monday - 1 hour boot camp
Tuesday - 1 hour circuit training - 15 minutes abs, 15 minutes of Spin
Wednesday - 1 hour boot camp, 1 hour Zumba
Thursday - 1 hour circuit training - 30 minutes of Spin
Friday - 1 hour boot camp

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 6 of the New Year




One more pound down this week. Here is my work out schedule this past week.  I did not get my extra walks in and I missed a class this week. 

Monday - 1 hour boot camp
Tuesday - 1 hour circuit training - 15 minutes abs, 15 minutes of Spin
Wednesday - 1 hour boot camp, 1 hour Zumba
Thursday - 30 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of circuit training
Friday - 1 hour boot camp
Saturday - off
Sunday - off

The measuring tape was not good to me either this week. Nothing off of the waist, add an inch to the chest, half an inch to the hips and nothing off of my arms. What the heck? I don't know. More importantly my wedding ring now fits. I don't have to remove it to work out because of my fingers swelling. That's progress. My cholesterol level is way down and don't forget the "Sistahood" if you are looking for more fitness support. I finally tried the ground turkey substitute for ground beef. What a difference! There is so much less grease. I was surprised how the taste was the same. Give it a try and let me know what you think!Till next week...

One more thing, I'm crashing and burning after my work outs every now and then. I'm pretty sure it's food related. I wish there was something I could grab and eat that was good for me.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 5 of the New Year



Finally my body is starting to make some shifts. It felt like it was taking forever. I have a one pound loss this week. The eating habits are always a challenge. I was worried because we really snacked at the Dave Ramsey event. They had LOTS of goodies there. Here is my work out schedule this past week. I'm not eating Advil or Aleve every day any more. My body is starting to adjust now.

Monday - 1 hour boot camp - 32 minute walk
Tuesday - 1 hour circuit training - 32 minute walk
Wednesday - 1 hour boot camp, 1 hour Zumba, 32 minute walk
Thursday - 1 hour circuit training, 1/2 an hour of Spin, 32 minute walk
Friday - 1 hour boot camp - 32 minute walk
Saturday - off
Sunday - off

The measuring tape was good to me this week. Nothing off of the waist but an inch off of the chest, hips and 1/2 an inch off of my arms. This makes me think I'm measuring wrong! lol - I'm not I'm just seeing progress in a different form.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 4 of the New Year



Ugh! It's the end of the month and I have a two pound loss. That means I am one pound away from my goal of losing 4 pounds a month. I wish I could find it but I read an article about how people don't exercise on the weekends. The article said that is when you gain your most weight, on the weekends. I was able to walk at least 30 minutes a day this past week, except for the weekend. Here is my work out schedule this past week.
Saturday - off
Sunday - off
Monday - 1 hour boot camp - 30 minute walk
Tuesday - 1 hour circuit training - 30 minute walk
Wednesday - 1 hour boot camp, 1 hour Zumba, 30 minute walk
Thursday - 1 hour circuit training, 1/2 an hour of Spin, 30 minute walk
Friday - 1 hour boot camp - 30 minute walk
Saturday - off
Sunday - off
Monday - 1 hour boot camp - 30 minute walk
Tuesday - 1 hour circuit training - 30 minute walk

That is a LOT of work! What's the result? Well I blogged last week that I moved on to the measuring tape. My arms, legs and chest have the same numbers. I lost an inch in my waist and an inch and a half from my hips! SWEET.

I still need to eat more but hey, it's progress!

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 3 of the New Year



New Year with a new plan of attack thanks to RealAge.com. I have been on that site the last few says taking quizzes and trying a new way of everything! First I didn't lose or gain this week. The site suggests I ditch the scale and grab a tape measure instead. They suggest measuring the belly each week. Also you can create a YOU: On a Diet which seems to be a more manageable plan according to YOU! Another suggestion is a 30 minute walk a day no matter what. I'm going to give it a shot. I have nothing to lose but weight. I was really wanting a Big Red this week but I attributed that to high levels of stress which I have solved since then. Here I go, wish me luck!

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 2 of the New Year



One pound gain. How much does that stink considering I broke up with Star Bucks and Big Red. What the heck!? I missed boot camp yesterday because I have a cold. However, I did drag myself into spin class today. My butt hurts! good lord those seats are uncomfortable. You would think that if your behind is bigger that there might be more cushion but NO, that's not right at all. So back to the drawing board I go! I guess it's going to take more than a week for my body to figure out my two main sources of yummy sugary goodness are gone.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Starting The New Year



For the first Tip The Scale Tuesday of the new year I have a two pound loss. Go Me! That's a great way to start out. The plan is to work out this year at least 5 times a week if not more. Right now I take classes at the YMCA (3 days of boot camp, zumba 1 day and 2 days of circuit training). If you have followed along then you know I broke up with Star Bucks at the end of last year. This year I'm breaking up with Big Red. I know it's drastic but I need to do all I can to meet my goals. I'm done with this gain some, lose some, gain more! I've never put my actual number out here because I'm in denial and refuse to believe my scale. I'm pretty sure that as long as the number goes down and stays down then I should be doing better.

I'm not a pill person so diet pills are not ever going to work for me. I hate fish and really all seafood so that part of a new diet won't work for me either. I'm just going to make more of an effort about what I eat. I haven't gone to a fast food place in a LONG time. A few boot camp classes ago, I ate a cheeseburger 2 hours before the class. I will NEVER do that again! I won't eat before that class period.You don't want the gory details.

I have the new Biggest Loser for Wii but I haven't cracked it open yet. I have plans on it though. Some days there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. What I really need and I think most people losing weight need are classes that have to do with nutrition and cooking. My cooking methods are based on what I learned from my mother. Her cooking is based on whatever she learned from her mother. I wish there would have been more things to learn in school. I wish health classes went further in school about cooking and nutrition.

Yes, I can read a label and I get servings and calories, etc... but I want to cook food that I like! It would be better to get meals and snacks out of the process. I want to prepare stuff that doesn't require thinking. They are meals that are good for you already. That will be part of my search this year! Wish me luck.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 36




I gained another two pounds this week. For the month of December I've packed on 6 pounds. That's right! I've been racking my brain trying to think of what happened. I worked out more. I'm really strong. My legs are looking slimmer. However, when I got on the scale this morning I was shocked!

I knew it was time to do it. Today I broke up with Star Bucks. That's right, it's over. I used my entire gift card and I'm done. My love for the peppermint mocha is not worth the pounds. Good-bye Star Bucks, it was fun while it lasted but I want to fit into my jeans. I need to go down on the scale not up. Wish me luck as I go into detox.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 35



I've got a two pound gain this week. Last night I was rubbing my husband's shoulders. He told me I was really strong. I believe it! Could it be that those peppermint mochas have caught up with me? Could it have been the cheeseburger and fries that I ate yesterday an hour before boot camp? Oh and I will NEVER do that again! That man made us take a lap and then sprint and then sprint some more and then made us do many other crazy things inside the gym. I baked some serious goodies and didn't even sample! I must get that scale to give me an accurate reading. I don't believe the silly thing. At least there is still the boot goal! I'm saving that $100 gift certificate to Amazon to buy a new pair of boots. I've fallen off the food journal wagon. I need to get back on it.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 34



Drum roll please, a one pound gain. How exciting! I've been living off of those peppermint mochas from Star Bucks. I can't help it, they are so good and give me a boost. What? I need it. I'm exhausted all the time. Some days I am tired of being me. Some days I get sick of folding the laundry, doing the dishes, changing diapers, cleaning up dog hair - and yet I'm supposed to be grateful. I get it. I have to work around my husband's work schedule and what SAHM doesn't? It's hard to plan anything because you always have to be ready with a back up plan when the plans you dare to make change. I'm coming down with the cooties. My hubs took a day off and how did I spend it? On the couch passed out with my sinuses running and a head ache. I did make it to boot camp Monday though. That which does not kill me, makes me stronger, right?

It's a three pound loss this week. There was no secret magic trick that I used for my terrible eating habits. I didn't work out more, actually I worked out less. I'm chalking it up to serious amounts of stress. My husband left the country and my children have been very sick, again. It's so hard to be consistent with anything when your kids are always sick.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 32




This week is a one pound loss. Last week I posted knowing that I need to keep a food journal. I had some computer glitches. Well, let's be honest I had many computer glitches. Viruses were once again trying to take hold of my computer. I had great dreams of tracking but it was not to be. However, I did notice a VERY unhealthy pattern this past week. I don't eat enough. I eat a meal once a day and that's usually at dinner. How in the world I can make it through the days like this week after week are beyond me. I make sure everyone (my kids) is fed first so they are quiet. Rather than join in on breakfast or lunch I just enjoy the silence. I find myself doing other things while they are out of my hair like cleaning the kitchen, changing out the laundry, etc. You get the idea. Then about 2 hours later after I've eaten dinner I'm starving again. Insert major snacking here after 9pm! Obviously this is a problem I need to get a hold on because honestly I'm in here. I'm in this body. I just need to match the body with what I see in my mind. *sigh* Back to the drawing board or should I say gym, I go.

Gained 2 pounds. I'm active all day long and those who are around me get exhausted just hanging out with me. I'm pretty much convinced it's what I'm eating. I'm guessing I need to get back to the food journal in order to track what I'm eating. I think that might be the only way to make a difference. At this point I just don't know!

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 30




I'm not sure what happened to Angie she hasn't updated her post for a while but I'm going to keep tracking my progress. I forgot to weigh in this morning which makes it hard to track any progress. However, after watching The Biggest Loser tonight it hit me. What is the reason you gained weight to begin with?

My weight issues circle around pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my eldest son I lived on the other side of town away from friends and family. I was lonely to be honest with you. My husband was at work all day and I was at home bored with a television and a house full of goodies. I walked a lot but it wasn't the exercise it was the food. My husband tells me how much and what I ate during that time and I'm still in denial. lol - The weight went down but never went back to where I once was and then I got pregnant again and then again and now it's over. I'm done, I'm finished, I've given birth to the caboose! And that's where it all began it stemmed from loneliness. I wasn't blogging yet or even in any forums, maybe that would have helped at the time. I don't know but I can tell you, I'm not lonely any more that is for sure!

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 29


I'm holding my own this week, no changes at all. I'm trying this new circuit routine 2 days a week at the YMCA. It's killer! I can't wait till soccer season is over so I can get back to my beloved Zumba class. I love that class. The spin class is fun but hard. My eating habits are still crazy. Every single day I have a choice and lots of stress to go with it. I know what I'm working on for next year!

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 28


Ladies and gentleman I have a two pound weight loss. Whoot Whoot! I didn't work out at the gym this past week but that new baby room was full of exercise. Up and down the stairs I went for 5 days and of course we have the wax on wax off method of painting. I'm exhausted but happy with the results. Today we hit the circuit training room. What did my abs ever do to this instructor? Geez! lol - Until next week.

Gained a pound this week. I didn't work out this week I'm over scheduled. I did indulge in French Vanilla cappuccinos. They are full of sugar so...there it is and that's this weeks fiasco.

Tip The Scale Tuesday - Week 26



This week resulted in a gain of two pounds. Awesome! The stress is just killing me. At least I made it to a circuit training class today. I feel a little relief. Last week I made it to another spin class. I nearly puked afterward. Oh well, here's to next week. Minus Thursday because I have to get ready for the church Fall Festival. I have to sample my baked goods that I'm going to make!
